The shelter is currently operating by an appointment only system. Please call 281-999-3191 and make an appointment for any shelter or wellness clinic service. We will not be accepting walk-ins to the shelter or wellness clinic until further notice.
Appointments for any service are booked for the current day or the next day. If you request an appointment for the wrong service, please note you will need to book for the correct service at a later date. Appointments may not be transferred from one service to another while at the shelter. Due to a larger than normal call volume, there may be a wait while on hold and for an appointment. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Effective immediately, the shelter will only be open for animal intake/ drop off on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday until further notice.
HCAS will not turn away any sick or injured animals. However, we request that non-emergency, owner surrenders postpone turning in their pets until HCAS resumes normal operating intake hours and protocols.
According to the CDC and World Health Organization, there is no current evidence that companion animals including pets can spread COVID-19. However, since animals can spread other diseases to people, it’s always a good idea to wash your hands after being around animals.
To prepare, identify another person in your household who is willing and able to care for your pet. Make sure you have an emergency kit for your pet ready-to-go, with at least two weeks’ worth of food, bowls, collars, leashes, bedding, and any needed medications and preventatives.
